             Building Leaders

            I believe that our organization provides numerous opportunities for leadership beyond the available officer positions. The various leadership roles taken on during our time in the H.A.M.S. build skills and abilities that will last a lifetime and be of assistance in our future professions.

             Promoting Scholarship

            Beginning with our monthly flyers listing the health issues being observed for the month by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, I believe that the ACC H.A.M.S. should continue to promote health education and awareness. No matter what profession we plan to go into (medical or not), everyone can benefit from an increase in health awareness.

             Encouraging Service

            Although our first semester did not allow much time for community service, I believe that the spring and beyond will provide many volunteer opportunities. We can continue to participate in such events, as well as encourage our peers and those we know to do so as well.

             Influencing Society

            Though the H.A.M.S. organization will most definitely build friendships that will exist long after our college years, more important is the work we do now that can affect many generations to come. Although we will all get something out of being a member of H.A.M.S., while putting in much time and effort, we should not forget why we are doing what we do. I hope that our ultimate goal would be not only to seek what we can get out of this organization, but to consider what we can do while we are in it and how this can affect the world around us.
